Christina Tuominen, 91, Clarkston

      Christina Irene Tuominen of Clarkston passed away Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, at Life Care Center in Lewiston. She was 91.

      She was born to Albert Stamper and Ida Swenson Oct. 18, 1910, at Central Ridge above Peck. She went to school in Weiser, Tammarack and Orofino and received her General Education Development certificate.

      She married Arnold Matson in June 1930; they were divorced in 1951. She married Villio Tuominen in June 1955. Villio preceded her in death in March 1998.

      She worked as a cook in Grangemont, Idaho, at Ban Mill and Porters logging camps before attending a year of beauty college. She later opened a beauty shop in her home on Riverside in Orofino and a dress shop called Chris Tuo's.

      She also studied business management through correspondence courses and was a member of the Clarkston United Methodist Church.

      Her survivors are children, Helen L. Tank and Harold L. Matson, both of Clarkston; sister, Myrtle Matson, of Orofino; grandchildren, Debi Deyo, Jim Tank, Linda Miller, Kathy Matson and Chris Walburn, all of Clarkston, Mike Matson of Spokane and Nancy Matson of St. Maries; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

      She was preceded in death by one sister, two brothers, one granddaughter and one grandson.

      Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. today at Mountain View Funeral Home in Lewiston. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the same location. The Rev. Barrett Moffett of the First Methodist Church of Clarkston will officiate.
